Day 01
Welcome to Maputo, Mozambique
Arrivals. Meet and Assit, transfers & check-ins, followed by a cultural presentation and dinner at the hotel. Overnight in Maputo.
Day 02
Maputo Cultural Odyssey
A melting pot of Latin and African flavours, Maputo is a unique and historical city. Meet the Maputo beloved by its locals on a half-day tour including stops at the Fortress, Central Market, Museum of Natural History, Railway Station and FEIMA curio market. Guests will also pass by the Maputo City Hall, Cathedral, Botanical Gardens and Iron House. Lunch at a local restaurant, and continue our tour. Dinner & overnight in Maputo.
Day 03
Mafalala Cultural Tour and School Exchange program
A full day of activities is planned on our Mafalala Culture & school exchangeTour. We visit a local primary school where students have the opportunity to interact in class with pupils and teachers, followed by a guided tour of Mafalala neighbourhood covering areas of historical and cultural interest with a special performance by the ‘Tufo da Mafala Group’, a typically Emakwua dance. Lunch at Museum da Mafalala, ending with a friendly game on the Mafalala field with local school students. Dinner & overnight in Maputo.
Day 04
Kruger National Park
The Kruger National Park tour leaves at dawn, a mere 100 kms from Maputo into South Africa and returns back in the evening. Arrive at the South African border. After immigration formalities at the border, we head on our Kruger National Park tour, taking a very slow drive through the park. Students have the chance of spotting the famous big Five - the elephant, buffalo, giraffe, impala and zebra and learn about these majestic animals and their natural habitat. Enjoy lunch at one of the park’s rest camps. Transfer back to Maputo, dinner & overnight in Maputo.
Day 05
Macaneta Day Trip
After breakfast, we set out to the tropical paradise of Macaneta Peninsula. Visit the Glass House, an impactful recycling project and learn how it uplifts the local community. Relax at the beach and take in the warm sun or play beach volleyball followed by a traditional lunch at a local lodge. Visit a local Art Gallery and learn about its artists and creations. Dinner and overnight in Maputo.
Day 06
eSwatini Culture Tour (Swaziland)
On this full day tour, learn about history and culture of this beautiful Siswati nation. The tour leaves Maputo at dawn and returns in the evening, and includes lunch and entry fees at Mantenga Cultural Village. Heading out from the Manzini Market and Mantenga Craft & Lifestyle Centre, students can browse for Siswati jewellery and beautiful local art. Take in a traditional dance performed by Siswati dancers in a nearby boma to the beat of echoing cowhide drums. Try your skills and learn some traditional dance steps. Later, we’ll visit more art and craft attractions at Malandela’s Complex before the return journey home via the famous Swazi Candle Factory. Lunch is hosted at Malandela’s or at the Candle Factory. Return to Maputo. Dinner & overnight in Maputo.
Day 07
Mozambuiqe food tour
This incredible food tour takes students on a tasting tour with stops to sample food and drink specialities. Highlights include a tasting of traditional street food, and numerous other specialities. After lunch, we take you on a five hour Batik making tour. Work side by side with a local artist at the bustling FEIMA curio market to create your own handmade batik, an intricate wax-resistance fabric. The masterclass lasts about 3.0 hours. An apron is provided for you to take home as a souvenir. Dinner & overnight in Maputo.
